Sometimes, just one word says it all…

ENOUGH!

Keith Olbermann mentioned it quite a few times during his latest Special Comment in the wake of the latest revelations on the whole financial imbroglio-among them, the revelation that Citigroup’s head was found to have spent some of the bailout money on a $10 million executive suite for himself and his top staff.

So, enjoy the latest Special Comment from the Thursday(3/19/09)edition of MSNBC’s Countdown…either by going to MSNBC’s site or putting the words “keith olbermann special comment” into YouTube’s search engine.

It’s not all about the Wolves…

I’ll be posting on stuff that strikes my fancy. One of them is MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann, which I watch on a regular basis(and catch up with it on the show’s website when I can’t see it live). Last night, Keith did a takedown on his main rival, Bill O’ Reilly…who…wants to rip off Keith?

Enjoy the fun!

Getting from then to now

March 12, 2009

So, how did I wind up here…a fledgling writer whose series now has a second chance to find an audience?

First, we need to head back about a decade. Back in 1999 or so, I was inspired to create the general idea behind Lone Wolves thanks to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And, as such, it would be tied more into the Buffy mythos but from an entirely different angle: What if there were people who were fighting the vampires, demons, etc. with no connections to any organization? And had no Slayer powers, per se, but had some other abilities and training to fall back on? Over the years, the idea has come and gone, but never truly left me.

Then came 2007.

One day, at work, I was struck with pretty nasty pain-which I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I’ll save you the grisly details, but-long story short-the upshot was I in the hospital for nearly a month and recovered at home for nearly 2 more before returning to work. During that time, cooped up in that room-and later recovering at home-I decided to return to the project and make an honest go of it, if for no other reason to prove to myself that I could do this-doing a show in script form.  So, I kept at it and later submitted it to Dan Joslyn, one of the major domos behind the online virtual series Watchers. He gave me some very constructive criticism, but had some good things to say about it as well. (CN Winters, too, was very welcoming when I asked if I could join the staff of the show; she said, basically, “everything’s locked in, but feel free to try your hand at fan fiction.”)

I still kept writing, and slow but sure I got better at it-even during the time I had an operation to fix the problem that landed me in the hospital in the first place. Around the holidays last year, I heard that a virtual network-VBC-was looking for shows to air on the network. I made the pitch, and heard the good news that it was accepted. So, now I have to crank out more episodes.

Then, in mid-February, came some terrible news: while VBC was moving their files from an old server to the new one, the old one wouldn’t give the new one what was necessary…and that challenges had been filed by a couple of entertainment behemoths. Needless to say, I was sad for a few seconds-and then I got incredibly angry…that something I had worked on could be taken away just like that. (Luckily, I had saved the completed episodes to another location.) And so, I tried to find a new home for the show. I contacted another virtual network and send the stuff requested. They reviewed it and turned it down, basically saying there was no “there” there. Once again, you feel sad…and then angry. REALLY angry. My attitude was the same that former ECW owner Paul Heyman expressed to his staff before the company’s first PPV Barely Legal: “F— you, you’re wrong! F— you, we’re right!”

So, I made the same points on The Watchers Forum..and CN puts forth a proposal: how about bringing the show to our website, complete with a subsite of its own? Needless to say, the answer was “yes”.

The upshot is this website….

So…what do you think about it?

Hello world!

March 5, 2009

Welcome, all.

This is the official blog for the virtual series Lone Wolves, which formerly aired on the virtual network VBC and will soon be back. I’ll announce the location of where the episodes can be found when the time is right.

Notes on the episodes…what influenced it…comments..and much more will be included here.

And, from time to time, I’ll comment on whatever else comes to my mind…sports, politics, television, etc.

Disagreement is fine and, in fact, it’s encouraged. Do NOT, however, get personal with your comments. That’s all I ask.

Everybody got that?

Having said that…welcome aboard!
